A Da Shu (older tree) single estate Bada cake, material from a small production and small label. A mix of old tree material and younger leaf from Bada area. Bada is known for its bitter kick and this old tree offering shows bada off well….
Eggshell mineral notes and peach aroma. Minerality comes through very well and is the dominant note with a light peach note tucked away at the back. Bitterness is still quite pushy, it hangs and transforms its a long aftertaste. Very nice if you need that kick! Sweetness at the back of the cheeks. Future promise here, this bitterness should fold into sweetness given a few years. Also I’m detecting the beginnings of an earthy, pine like forest floor. The aftertaste is a spicy white pepper! The character does remind me of a posh aging version of Menghai Spring cake (if there were one), save that in this tea there is no smokey notes and it’s a little more texture. See what you think. Chi is noticeable, energetic and long lasting.
