Description

Guangdong storage: 2021-2026

A cute and cuddly, well-balanced Pu, perfect for newbies and a great daily drinker that should age nicely!

This 2021 Yiwu Sheng Pu Erh is a mixed-pick blend, combining leaves from multiple regions of the Yiwu mountains. Carefully harvested and processed, this cake represents a balanced, early-stage raw pu erh experience.

Origin & Material

  • Region: Yiwu Mountains, Yunnan
  • Material: Mixed-pick leaf blend
  • Type: Raw / Sheng Pu Erh
  • Year: 2021 harvest

A young Yiwu cake capturing the fresh character of high mountain leaves with natural varietal complexity.

Aroma & Liquor

At room temperature, the dry leaf is slightly pungent, hinting at its energetic character.

The first rinse releases:

  • Green, fresh aromatics
  • Light apricot syrup sweetness
  • Bold eggshell minerality

The liquor pours a clean, pale green-golden colour — indicative of young Yiwu sheng.

Taste & Texture

Early infusions:

  • Fresh, green flavours with subtle sweetness
  • Distinct eggshell mineral note
  • Light touch of smoke

As the session progresses, flavours meld into a smooth, well-rounded Yiwu experience.

Bitterness and astringency remain soft with gentle brewing; longer steeps bring a more robust pu erh character and complex aftertaste. The mouthfeel ranges from fair to smooth, coating the palate comfortably.

Qi (Energy)

Chi is present but low — energetic and uplifting without being overwhelming. Perfect for daytime gong fu sessions.

Overall Character

A young, approachable Yiwu Sheng Pu Erh, offering:

  • Balanced mixed-pick flavour profile
  • Light sweetness and mineral complexity
  • Soft bitterness and subtle astringency
  • Energetic but gentle chi

Ideal for early drinkers of Yiwu sheng, with natural potential to develop deeper character over the next few years with careful storage.

Fruity and, yes, friendly. Solid, good value tea that I’ve only brewed on the lighter side so far, but look forward to pushing. I like the Best Friend’s bark, so I’m hopeful for its bite!
