Description

2013 material. ‘Qiaomu’ literally meaning ‘recognisable tree trunk, as opposed to bush or shrub’. This cake is most likely a blend of Menghai area plantation and Da Shu. Natural Guangdong storage & you will know it! Would you like to know what a traditional Hong Kong style Ripe tastes like? Look no further. Mrs Guru takes 1 sip and is instantly reminded of home, she was brought up on stuff like this. “A beautiful HK style Ripe” she remarks. For me I absolutely agree, this tea takes it to the edge of palatable dankness, in a really good way! The dank is there but no massive basement off notes. Nice and smooth texture, hints of sweetness at the back of the cheeks and quite thirst quenching ly more-ish.

I really like this style of ripe. Very flavoursome. Will buy again. I would recommend you sample. It’s distinctive, whereas many ripes at this kind of price point are very similar.

I was initially reticent to try this one due to it being called ‘dank’ Not the most favourable word in the english language 🙂 Shouldn’t have worried though. Very nice healthy sweet leather, autumn leaf, slight tobacco nose. Every cup has a wonderfully warming autumn chi. Each cup sup leaves a big (physically) slight astringent mouth (tasting) coating and feel in the mouth which is very pleasant. It has a very nice almost complex autumn leaf flavours with nice creamy menghai in the background. A nice balance. It reminds me of a cross of the more powerful V93 flavours and the smooth creamy menghai’s. In this way it is equally welcome to when Im looking for a strong powerful Pu Erh and other times when Im looking for a soothing sweet tasty Pu erh. Great for a good ‘intense’ session and other times for a more refreshing afternoon pick me up / relax

Enjoyable tea at the price point. Fairly typical Ripe flavors predominant towards the leather. You won’t get as many cups as some more expensive ripes and its slightly too easy going for me personally, but still represents good value at the price point. A nice easy going ripe.
